What are Tongue Twister?

Tongue Twister are word or sequence of sentences that are deliberately difficulty to say and sometimes cause humorous errors. 

In several different language, tongue twister occur and often tend to sound like short poems or songs. They can rhyme, where the same letter or sounds are repeated, or have alliteration. 

The quality of the sentences is always fanciful or doesn't make any sense.

The common feature of tongue twister, irrespective of context, is that they are supposed to be hard to say and even cause errors.

The goal is to pronounce the word correctly, and by saying the tongue twister quickly or in repetition, people may challenge themselves further.


Why learn Tongue Twister?

Pleasant word games are tongue twisters, and they are also effective in improving expression and pronunciation. 

Tongue twister also encourage confident and advise the individual to pace themselves and give each word and syllable due attention. 

It's like practising some physical exercise to perform tongue twister. The more you practise, the more you learn.

  2. Betty bought some butter. But the butter Betty bought was bitter. So Betty bought some better butter, and the better butter Betty bought was better than the bitter butter Betty bought before.
  3. How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? He would chuck, he would, as much as he could, and chuck as much wood. As a woodchuck would if a woodchuck could chuck wood.
  4. She sells seashells by the seashore.
  5. How can a clam cram in a clean cream can?
  6. I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream.
  7. Red lorry, yellow lorry (x3)
  8. Thin sticks, thick bricks (x3)
  9. She sees cheese (x3)
  10. I slit the sheet, the sheet I slit, and on the slitted sheet I sit.
